Strontium Without Calcium?

Some are asking, “If strontium is so effective in increasing bone strength, can I use strontium without calcium?

You may have been taking calcium supplements and even vitamin D3 for some time, only to be told that you have osteopenia.  Therefore, you may be thinking you should quit taking calcium and take only strontium.

Why should you not take strontium without calcium?

  • Calcium is the most necessary component of bone tissue…
  • There is no benefit to taking strontium without calcium…
  • Your osteopenia was not caused by taking the calcium …

Your bone tissue needs calcium desperately.  It is composed mainly of calcium.
Therefore, you must get enough calcium in your diet either from food or supplements to supply that need.

Strontium is a mineral that is very plentiful in the environment and very valuable for our bones.  The value of strontium is that it acts like a magnet once it is in the bones to draw calcium  in.

The reason that you should not take strontium at the same time as calcium is that calcium is higher on the mineral scale, and if they are taken together the calcium beats the strontium for access to the bone.  So if they are taken at the same time, the strontium is totally wasted.

The best thing is to take strontium at bedtime, at least 3 hours after eating any food.  (That might be a problem for you if you are in the habit of using food to
help you swallow pills.)  That way it can get into your bones during the night and be there when the calcium comes through in the blood from your morning food or supplements.

Don’t think that your calcium and vitamin D that you were taking were at fault because you didn’t see improvement in your osteopenia.  Rather, you were lacking the other minerals and vitamins that are necessary to absorb the calcium into your bones, such as magnesium, boron  and vitamin C.

If you have been struggling with this question, I hope this helps.\

For your abundant health,
Muryal
