Bone Health Enhanced by Olive Oil?
By · CommentsYou have probably heard that Extra Virgin Olive Oil is one of the
best oils to use in cooking. You may be thinking “I know it has all
the healthy omegas in it and its monounsaturated fat is a key in-
gredient in the Mediterranean Diet. But how is bone health
enhanced by olive oil?”
Well, a recent study at a hospital in Cordoba, Spain found some interesting things about an ingredient found in olive leaves…called oleuropein. It is a powerful antioxidant.
And Extra Virgin Olive Oil has that same ingredient.
But how does olive oil affect your bones?
Your bone health is enhanced by olive oil in three ways…
- Olive oil is a healthy fat, and calcium must have fat to digest properly…
- The oleuropein in the oil hinders the production of fat cells in your bone marrow…
- With less fat cells in your bone marrow, there is more room for the calcium to deposit
in your bones to prevent osteoporosis…

Your Osteoporosis Exercise
By · CommentsWhat is your osteoporosis exercise? Don’t have one? Why not?
Exercise is so important that a new website with personal trainers especially for osteoporosis patients has just been created. Why is that necessary?
Because osteoporosis is gaining attention, with over 25 million cases in our country. And that number is continuing to grow.
If you are over 50, you have a 50% chance of already having the first stage of bone loss that may lead to osteoporosis.
The exciting news is that strength training not only helps your muscles, but as it puts pressure on the bones, they also become stronger (or more dense).
How many forms of strength training do you know?

Osteoporosis: Are Your Bones On Fire?
By · CommentsHI Friends,
This article , Osteoporosis: Are Your Bones On Fire? has exciting and challenging information.
You have probably heard about inflammation lately as it has been linked to many illnesses, but possibly you haven’t connected it with osteoporosis. ..
“As we know there has been a huge focus on inflammation as the real root of many of our chronic diseases. Inflammation is like a long, slow burning fire. It’s not creating a lot of damage all at once, slowly over time you start to feel the effects. Then we blame it on age, when the real issue has to do with how you have treated your body. The list of inflammatory chronic diseases includes autoimmune disorders like Rheumatoid Arthritis and lupus, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and osteoporosis. Yes, osteoporosis is another manifestation of inflammation.
Where the inflammation occurs in the body may be genetic, but the genes are “turned on” by lifestyle factors. You can control your genetics! The following are factors that regulate the inflammatory genes and will help put out the fire in your bones (and everywhere else).

Protein For Breakfast
By · CommentsWhy do we need protein for breakfast? There are
many reasons, but we’ll just consider three.
- 1. We do need breakfast. It is the most important
meal of the day. Because we have been fasting all
night, every cell is desperate for food. And we need
protein because it is the strength food.
2. We need protein for breakfast to get us up and
going all morning. Without protein, we will become
hungry and lose energy quickly – which is why so
many need a coffee break in the middle of the morning.
3. Every cell in your body needs protein, including your bones. But,not all
sources of protein are equal. You need to be certain you are getting the essential protein that your body needs.
Are you one of the many in our country who do not eat breakfast or if you do, is it mostly just carbohydrates like waffles, pancakes, toast, donuts, or cold cereal? Some have told me that they are just not hungry in the morning. But, Adele Davis mentioned in her book, “Let’s Eat Right to Keep Fit,” that if a person is not hungry in the morning it is because they ate too late the night before. Try to keep from eating after 7:00 p.m.
